Beowulf

Seamus Heaney reminded me of DH Lawrence in his use of poetic devices, though his cadence and diction were not delicate and subtle but grandiose and potent.
This translation was consistent with the other translations I've read. Thisversion is a more obvious metaphor for imperialism, conquest and empire and that makes it a very enjoyable allegory. My favorite quote is from page 119, "For a brief while your strength is in bloom, but it fades quickly."
