A cute book but admittedly not my favorite T. Kingfisher book. A large part of that was that for over 50% of the book, the problem went unsolved because the characters didn't talk to each other. Totally off base that a child might hide things from their parents? No. Do I enjoy the trope of "if the characters would talk, this book would be half as thick?" Also, no, and that definitely won't out in my rating.
