Captive in the Dark
by CJ Roberts
“You're not a damsel in distress and I'm not the handsome prince come to save you.”
This is my first book review, what a book to pick, right?
I’m still fairly new to the romance genre. In the last year, a good friend of mine revealed she was a secret romance-novel blogger and I found myself introduced to a whole new book world. I had just finished a string of sweet, swooning novels and during a conversation with said friend, she commented: “I think you need to change up your romance subgenre and try something darker”. This brought me to [b:Captive in the Dark|12513614|Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1)|C.J. This book is not for everyone. I don’t even know if this book is for me. It was well written, dark, tragic, traumatizing, intriguing, beautiful and horrifying. It left me feeling too many contradicting emotions and not having the means or words to fully express them. Speechless with a need to internally process what I had experienced. I don’t think I will be able to decide how I feel about this book anytime soon.
Did I like it? I don’t know. Did I dislike it? I don’t know. Do I regret reading it? Absolutely not!
I’m not going to recap the story, the book blurb does a perfect job of letting you know what you are in for. I would recommend this book to anyone who can handle dark and extreme content looking for not only a book but an experience.
I want to know what happens to Livvie and Caleb. [b:Seduced in the Dark|13612739|Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2)|C.J. Roberts|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1335114363l/13612739._SX50_.jpg|19212100] here I come!
