The Vampyre; A Tale
by John William Polidori
*2.5 stars*
I'm taking a vampire literature course this semester, and seeing as this is the first vampire tale written in English, of course this is one of the works we started with. I completely understand and appreciate its importance in the English vampire canon, but as a piece itself I found it incredibly boring to read and quite a struggle to get through. So I would recommend it if you're interested in the history of the vampire in english literature, but as a stand alone work just to read for pleasure I'd say maybe skip this one in my opinion.
