Duplicity

Duplicity is a psychological thriller from Sibel Hodge which focuses on Max and Alissa and life in the wake of Max’s murder. The word duplicity means to deceive or to be two-faced and this book really lives up to it’s title.
I read Duplicity fairly quickly. It’s a fast paced read, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader turning those pages until the very end. There is some interesting characterisation and dual storylines in the book which add to the mystery and intrigue too.
I’ve been reading an awful lot of psychological thrillers this year, so I like to think I have a fair idea of the plots and themes that authors can use for their books. A week before I read Duplicity, I read a book with very similar themes so this book didn’t hold any surprises for me. I guess it was bound to happen, and it was just an absolute fluke that I read these two books so close together.
In saying that, Duplicity is a gripping psychological thriller. Even though it wasn’t a shocker to me personally, I completely agree with the raving early reviews I am seeing on social media for Sibel’s book. These sorts of books are an escape, and Duplicity is no different. Lose yourself within the pages of this book and see for yourself.
