Illuminae by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman

Guys.

What a way to start off 2019!

Holy crap, why did no one tie me to a chair and FORCE me to read this book sooner??? Seriously though.

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff are so amazing together. No two authors could have come together better than these two for this amazing multi-media novel. I ate it up. I only wished for more time to sit down and read instead of go on with my adult life. It was that intense.

Okay, let's get to what was AMAZING. ALL OF IT. The end. >>ERROR<<

See what I did there?

I absolutely loved the characters throughout the entire novel, even those that were only present for a small fraction. Everyone felt like a "real" character, (except AIDAN. HAR HAR). The story that could be pieced together through the different types of media was brilliant and kind of terrifying at the same time. I mean, it would be horrifying if modern warfare really came to creating virus', which I know is what a lot of post-apocalyptic novels predict. It actually kept me up for a little while one night thinking about it and....*shivers*....it was unpleasant. The idea of the Phobos virus being a real thing was absolutely terrifying, and I found myself reading faster through the parts talking about the afflicted than any other part. So you could say I flew through most of the intense parts.

I also loved hating AIDAN, and then coming to not truly hate him in the end. The second he let the afflicted out of Bay 4 on the Alexander I wanted to personally go onto that ship and rip out all of the servers. My Ezra baby couldn't go that way. And when AIDAN told Kady that he had been talking to her since the interception with the Lincoln, I refused to believe that Ezra was dead. But now thinking back on it, it was true that AIDAN had been talking to her as Ezra from that time, even though Ezra wasn't dead. But AIDAN did try to convince Kady that he was dead, so I hated him...it? for that. I also hadn't pieced together that the Beitech Advisor was Ezra's mother until it was forced in front of our faces, and I was shooketh. I don't know if I was just daft for not picking that up, but I thought it was the perfect addition to the story.

I feel so lucky that all three books are complete that I can just pick them up one after another, unlike all you who had to patiently wait if you read them when they first came out *evil chuckle*. I think I end up winning here.

I could seriously go on and on about this book, but you should really just go pick it up yourself. Or if you've already read it, go read it again. I want EVERYONE to read this!

**UPDATE**
The audiobook is INCREDIBLE too!!!
