Planetes, Volume 1 by Makoto Yukimura
3.0

TLDR for Planetes Vol 1: astronauts with complex human issues such as trying to get over the passing of a spouse, finding your purpose when all odds are against you, and trying to have a smoke.

It's good so far, though I feel for me to be hooked I need a bit more to keep me going. The characters are somewhat interesting, and I feel like Hachimaki is going to be a character I'm going to relate to very strongly. Love how Fee's chapter is literally just trying to find a smoking room and uncovering a terrorist plot instead.

One criticism I have, outside of the needing more to keep me into the story, is that the transition between chapter 4 and 5 was too extreme. I had absolutely no idea what was going on and I feel having that time to explore what Hachimaki experienced would have been important than just going he'll be fine but he has long lasting psychological issues now.

Going to continue with volume 2 to see if I can get some of that magic others are feeling.
