this book is heart warming and special. Nikki Giovanni dedicated it to Tupac Shakur which immediately put me in my feelings before I began to fully read it. Nikki Giovanni is brilliant in the way she takes the simple every day things and calls us to recognize the ways these are symbols of love. it is also beautiful that she wrote love poems not just to lovers but to friends, mentors and elders. It is easy to read and a quick 96 pages but I took my time with it because it’s one of those where you have to savor what you’re reading to really integrate it’s medicine and potential healing power.
