After That Night
by Karin Slaughter
I've been thoroughly enjoying catching up on the full Will Trent and Grant County series by Karin Slaughter since the end of 2022. I was finally all caught up by the end of 2023 without realizing that there would be a new installation to digest. Happy to return with my faves Will and Sara. As usual, Karin Slaughter does an excellent job in picking up the series right where she left off. We're given the full story behind Sara's traumatic sexual assault, making this possibly the most personal book in the series as it relates to our main characters. More often than not the lens is focused on the victim of each case, but here we get to read and feel Sara/Will navigate through their trauma, together.
I also thoroughly enjoy the bits of Faith and her family. If there's one negative thing I have to say...I never have enough of Faith/Will!! Their dynamic just works. I love their banter and I love how much they love each other too.
Overall, this has a good pace, and Karin Slaughter continues to not shy away from the brutality of these cases and the emotional turmoil it should take on the reader. 5/5 all around.
