The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
by Washington Irving
mysterious
fast-paced
This was such a pleasant read for the beginning of the colder season. I've read one Washington Irving story before, but I'd forgotten how lovely his prose is. It's also interesting to think about this in the context of it being one of the earliest American short stories, and feeling distinctly tied to that history while also incorporating elements of European folklore. I definitely see myself revisiting this, and what an excellent reminder that I ought to check out more of Irving's work.
