The Tea Gardens by Fiona McIntosh
3.0
If you're looking for a #girlboss book and love historical fiction, this is the book for you. I know that in the first few chapters alone I knew I would recommend this book to my mum. But the cheating made me think twice.
Isla is so cool, she's a doctor at a time where that is mainly a men's profession. She is also very assertive in what she thinks and what she wants. I love that she is so compassionate but it gets her involved in drama. The horrific realities of the Indian Cast System are written with the utmost care. In the same vain it doesn't shy from the truth.
However, I hate cheating plot points. I mean Saxon tells Isla that he isn't faithful to his wife and she is like, oh well, I'm only sort of engaged. Ugh, I hated that!
Overall, it was good, but I hate cheating in a romance plot.
