I really love how Talia Hibbert discusses consent and the importance of consent in her books, and That Kind of Guy is no exception! It was also great to see the ‘older woman, younger man’ trope done well, and I appreciated seeing demisexuality discussed as the male lead comes to terms with his sexuality. I think this is the first time I’ve come across an ace-spec character in an adult romance novel!

The pacing felt a bit off to me though, because this is actually the shortest book in the Ravenswood series (excluding the novella), and when we start the book, Zach and Rae already have an established friendship. I would have really loved to see a slow-burn relationship develop between them, but actually things zip along at a very fast pace.

I absolutely love the whole Ravenswood bunch though, and Hibbert has past characters popping up just the right amount – not too little that I forget them and not too much that they take over and distract from the current couple. If she ever does write about them again, I’d definitely love to read the book(s)!
