Although this was a heavy story, it was full of humanity. Taking place from Japan’s occupation of Korea until the 1990s, I loved seeing how the family pivoted to survive the resulting poverty, racism, and war. Each generation’s hopes and fears for the next was nothing but authentic and witnessing the frustration of the current generation towards the previous was raw.
