Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman
3.0

Erin is a former addict and her path to relapse is paved by two of her close friends, Tobias and Silas.

I liked this novel more than I thought I would. The drug aspect of Ghost and addiction of being Haunted was a definite unique basis. One that I really couldn’t relate to, as I have minimal experience with drugs. I guess in a way I can kind of relate to the draw of a relationship and how intoxicating that can be in itself. How sometimes it’s hard to separate yourself and your identity from a partner.

Some parts were very obscure and hard to understand, but the story overall had a nice flow. The characters weren’t the best, most of them seem to just drift into their circumstances without taking a stand. Erin makes her friend’s death all about her. Most of them do glorify acid in my opinion which was kinda off putting.

Another confusing part was when we are getting an explanation of Ghost and are told that people, not houses, are haunted. Then they immediately discuss how they need a “fresh” house that isn’t already haunted?!?

Definitely a decent book, but doesn’t live up to all the hype I’ve heard.
