Necromancer, Volume 1 by Soga Shina

4.0

This is probably not a book I would have picked up without trying to find a book to fit a readathon prompt, but I'm happy I did as I now want to finish the series.

This volume starts out with a series of short seemingly unconnected stories, but gradually it pulls together with reoccurring characters and a developing storyline.

I didn't particularly like any of the characters, but they were intriguing and I do want to know what happens with them.

The twist on necromancy that this story takes is fun. They can bring the dead back to life, but when they do their greatest passion is enhanced. Meaning the more times someone is brought back to life the more passionate they get about their specific fixation, which of course can have interesting consequences.

This was a well written, fun story and I look forward to reading the rest at some point.
