I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

4.0

I'd been wanting to read this for a long long time, albeit for incorrect reasons. I went into this thinking it was going to be a thrilling ride into zombie town, a la the walking dead. Stupid stupid. First off, it's vampires. Secondly, this is apocalypse of the worst kind. Matheson paints long periods of nothingness; monotonous, purposeless and utterly alone. Oh and horny too. Never will you sympathize so much with someone because he's not getting any!
The writing can be quite flat, and short read as it may be, it can still drag in places. But 4 stars because being the last man on earth is just so sad. Sob.

P.s - check your expectations at the door, and remember that this was written in 1954, and you too can enjoy this fine classic.
