The Kind Worth Saving
by Peter Swanson
1.5, actually. Half point off for the blah ending.
Long, long ago, in 2015, to be precise, I read my first Peter Swanson book, A Kind Worth Killing. And I thought it was fun and entertaining. Didn't love the ending of that one, either, but I said in my review it was a good set up for a sequel. Well no sequel came, but I eventually read six...SIX...other books by him. Three I rated two stars and three got a one star (and a sneer). Not a good track record. I skipped his last book after even all the usual rave reviews weren't raving. But here comes that sequel finally, although I'd totally forgotten the other book. I looked up a synopsis and scratched my head while reading it as it sounded so over the top, did I really like that? Apparently, so I gave this one a shot, and I do have to say it was entertaining if you didn't question all the highly unlikely occurrences. But then the end just fizzles out. Henry Kimble is rendered incapacitated and only figures in half the book, then we get this Lily character, is she evil or good? Are we supposed to like her or not? I don't know, and I don't really care. I feel like I've finally come full circle with these books now, and I can safely ignore them in the future.
