A big improvement over the first book. The characters are completely different people compared to the first book. That’s clearly supposed to be justified by trauma, but it doesn’t really hold up under scrutiny. It’s fine it you're willing to just gloss over it. It is still much, much better than ACOTAR. I will say that it can be either triggering or cathartic for anyone who's ever had a violent or absuive relationship. So, bear that in mind.
