Seven Dirty Secrets by Natalie D. Richards
3.5
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Trigger warnings: death (in the past), shitty parenting, domestic violence, toxic relationship (in the past), lying, drug use, gaslighting, stalking

This was.........a mixed bag for me. The first half felt absolute chaotic, between the my-boyfriend's-dead stuff and the stalking stuff and the scavenger hunt stuff and the complex family situation and keeping track of all the characters. But somewhere around the midpoint of the book, things shifted and I absolutely FLEW through the second half. There was at least one plot twist that I didn't see coming and I very nearly said "HOLY SHIT" out loud in the middle of supervising a class of teenagers, so props to Richards for that. Will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.
