A young man deals with his trauma after the sudden loss of his mother by attending several grief groups, catfishing the daughter of the man who is responsible for his mother's death, and then roping three other grief group members into a road trip from New Jersey to Tennessee with a baseball bat.

This is told in stream-of-consciousness, with much italics and capitalization that emphasizes Asher's distress. That is my jam, so I didn't mind it, but it can be a headache since Asher is not always a likeable protagonist.

This is a road trip novel about healing, and that shines best in moments with Will. Knocking this down from a 4 is when Asher chooses to go up to Grace's door, and everything that follows after. Deeply weird decision.
