The Chains of Fate by Samantha Amstutz
5.0

Now that I've finished my Chains of Fate ARC, I must try to pull myself together and find a way to function today. How am I going to achieve that after reading this utter masterpiece? I am not sure.

Ever since I got my hands on The Aspect of Essence, Book 1 in the Aelfyn Archives by Samantha Amstutz, I knew my reading experience would never be the same. I don't know if words are strong enough to express all the emotions I've experienced while reading this dark epic fantasy.

Samantha has created a story that won't ever leave your mind. Its intricacy, beautifully crafted lore, and masterfully written characters add to the series' magic.

In a world ruled by elves, elven-blooded are used as a tool to prolong the elven race, and humans are labour power. A sinister force, the Wraiths, seemingly disrupts the peace and leaves a path of destruction behind. But who are they really? Are they just mindless evil creatures, or is there more to it?

In The Chains of Fate, we go deeper, exploring the world's lore and history, not just the wraiths but the races that have long come and gone. We learn more about the horrible events that have passed and those currently taking place. And those revelations will change everything.

Besides the central trio from Book 1, Serenna, Vesryn, and Jassyn, we are introduced to some old and new characters. We learn more about Lykor and meet Fenn, a character that now holds a special place in my heart, next to Jassyn.

Each of the intertwined plotlines is so strong and so full of emotions. Jassyn is the one character I want to keep close and protect from the world; in this book, even though he still struggles with the demons of his past, he finds his inner strength and his voice. I am so proud of him; he deserves everything. Vesryn, while still being his morally grey self, shows so much growth; he really tries to be and do better, even though, at times, it isn't easy. I love Serenna; her character is portrayed beautifully and realistically as we witness her growing into her powers while still holding that shred of self-doubt. And Fenn... How much I adore him! He embodies love, devotion, and loyalty paired with cheekiness, humour, and a beautiful soul. Finally, Lykor is a character tortured by his past, and you have to sympathize with him, even when you struggle to understand some of his actions. I hope his soul will find the peace and the healing he desperately needs.

I was crushed by that ending, and I don't know how I will live my life until I have Book 3 in my hands.
Please, get your hands on The Aelfyn Archives; you won't regret it!
