Hell or High Water by Julie Ann Walker
4.0

This is a great start to a new series. Julie Ann has definitely done her research and it shows. Living in sunny FLA a salvage crew lead by Les “The Lion” Anderson, he and his team are all former Navy SEALs who are trying to live normal and fulfilling lives that they promised a fallen comrade they would do.

I really like the guys. Each are unique individuals who are going to be fun to get to know more of. While we got glimpse of each of them, we got better look at Brad which makes me wonder if his book is next while you're reading the book. The good news... Yeah, he's story is next in "Devil and the Deep (Deep Six, #2)" scheduled for release on March 1, 2016. Back to Leo and his story....

The tension between Leo and Olivia is evident but I will say, that I was a bit lost in their connection/attraction. We see is him pining for her and being in love with her after less than a few days and interactions with her isn't “rational” unless there's history and while it’s said several times over that they were stationed together, we as the reader of the current book do not get a sense of what their time stationed together was like. So that connection between hero and heroine felt like an instant lust BUT the author does a great job of bringing the action that you get caught up in the action and forget that point.

Oh and freaking TEARS! Thanks Julie Ann! The helicopter scene! That's all I'm saying! Julie definitely has a way with words that will get you in the guts and make the water works start!!

Overall, I really enjoyed this first installment to the series and can't wait for the next book! She did a fantastic job of setting things up for that book!
