There are a few too many improbable twists in this heist on a boat book. I think of your characters ever have to say ‘that’s the sort of thing that happens in books’ or similar, you’ve pushed it too far. A thief stops to drink whiskey in a room he has robbed, a bird is given away, and then the recipient puts it into a lottery (rude!), and someone falls for the same trick twice. Some things are resolved incredibly quickly and others drag. A little bit off, most of the time.
