What I liked:
-WOW I was not expecting this book to be one of my favorites from this year. I had no idea that Simu went through such a rough childhood, and was very touched by the maturity and nuance that he had when reflecting back on his childhood and his relationship with his parents.
-I was very impressed that he was able to empathize with parents while not condoning their actions–that to me is the epitome of understanding and healing from generational trauma.
-Honestly listening to his audiobook was addicting, I couldn’t stop listening and it was actually really inspiring to hear his story of perseverance and going after your dreams given where I am at this point in my life.
-I was really impressed by his writing too. I laughed and teared up several times.

What I disliked:
-I wish he had gone into a bit more detail when talking about how he reconciled with his parents. He talked about how it got better as he moved away, and the turning point was when he asked them for help on his Chinese lines for Blood and Water, but I wished he had gone into more detail to how they started repairing their relationship.
-I also wished he had talked about his grandparents more and how that relationship changed as he grew older and wasn’t living with them anymore.

Would definitely reread and have recommended it to others
