Freedom Is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine, and the Foundations of a Movement by Angela Y. Davis

5.0

“It is in the collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism.”

This is a beautifully powerful collection of speeches, interviews, and essays that everyone should read. In theme with Davis’ main argument the topics and discussions here are still deeply relevant to current and future issues. Especially when looking at the genocide in Palestine, and how that is an ongoing issue connected to all other liberation movements. The emphasis on the intersectionality of each struggle for freedom is a critical message to understand to allow us to think in broad root causes. The discussion of individual thinking in regards to both people and movements was very impactful and really helped put at lot of current issues in context for me.
