3.5/5⭐️ | 13+
This book was okay, but I wasn't a huge fan.
SUMMARY:
In a future dystopian world, most of the world's population can't dream, but the Indigenous people still can. Scientists believe they found the cure to dreamlessness, but they must extract the bone marrow from Indigenous peoples. The government resurrected the residential schools and began taking Indigenous people against their will. Now, Indigenous people are in hiding with recruiters hunting them. The book follows Frenchie, an Metis teen, who lost his parents and brother. He finds a group of other Indigenous people who become his family. The story follows their journey through the woods hiding from the recruiters.
REVIEW:
This book was okay, I wasn't a huge fan. I found it kind of boring and it took me forever to get through. I think it had an important message and the themes were important (about the racism that Indigenous peoples face and the effects of the residential schools). But for such a short book, it took me forever to get through. Something I did like about the book were the quotes, it had some really good quotes. Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of this book.
