The Unexpected Consequences of Love
by Jill Mansell
This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. For fans of the author please note this is a book which was originally published in 2014 under the title The Unpredictable Consequences of Love.
The main love story features hotel owner Josh and photographer Sophie. These two appear to be well suited, but past experiences mean that Sophie won't let anyone close enough to find out how well suited. She has put up so many walls it could take a miracle to break through them. Is that miracle going to happen in the shape of Josh? Or are the walls so unbreakable that Sophie will be on her own?
There are two other 'side' stories running throughout the book. The fact that these stories are intertwined around Josh and Sophie's story made this a really good read for me. I loved that the author didn't just concentrate on one story, but instead brought the other two in to provide contrasts.
The first of these side stories features Sophie's friend Tula, and hot surfer type Riley. Tula must have been such a fun character to come up with, and write about, because she is such a complex character in her own funny way. I loved reading about Tula's antics.
The other side story, and one which was just lovely to read, features Josh's long seperated grandparents. Throw in another love interest and this makes for some interesting misunderstandings.
If you are looking for a nice romantic read, with various storylines all linked together in some ways, this is one for you.
