Amazonia by James Rollins

Let’s face it, if you like Indiana Jones type adventure novels, you have to be willing to overlook poor character development, formulaic, predictable plots, a dash of misogyny and probably some cultural insensitivity. So if you’re still with me, I think this is a pretty fun book. I loved the setting, the Amazon. I loved the depth of knowledge regarding indigenous medicines. I loved the crazy, over the top creatures. I loved Tor Tor! I am always a fan of big Pharma being the bad guy. I’m also a fan of a little blood, gore and death, and it definitely delivers there. It’s a fast entertaining read, but don’t expect too much. As always I am willing to cut books with an interesting premise more of a break. Suspend your critical thinking skills and just go with it.
