The Library Book by Susan Orlean

Did not finish book.
“The reading of the book was a journey. There was no need for souvenirs.”

Yep, there would be really no souvenirs from this one. If you're not a fan of reading about a thousand facts that you will feel like you're reading a textbook in school, SKIP THIS.

The book is about the burning of the LA Public Library in 1986 and finding out who started the fire. This book also containts about a gazillion facts about libraries and books.

Dnf at around 50%. I can't take it anymore. I am being my ignorant self and didn't know that this is a non-fiction. No wonder I was bored out of my wits. But even then, I was captivated by the idea of uncovering the reasons why this library burned down. I thought it would be fun. I am a fan of mystery and crimes. So why wouldn't I like it?

Reason 1, there are a lot of facts here. There are facts about libraries and books. A whole bunch of them. In fact I think majority of the 50% I have listened to was about these random facts rather than the story itself.

Reason 2, as was said in 1, it did not really work towards the uncovering of the identity of the arsonist. Was he an arsonist? I don't know. Probably. I didn't stay long enough to find out.

Reason 3, sorry not sorry, I'm not really interested learning that much about books. I read books to enjoy them. I think this book would be fun if I am older. But maybe not now. I need my mind to wander.

What I did like about this book is the author's extensive research to be able to compile them into this book. I mean, wow. That is amazing. Also the quotes, they were great. I enjoyed the parts where there are storytelling. If she would write a fiction, I'd definitely try that.

But for now, I'm leaving 1 star here as I did not finish this book.
