Three of Hearts by Lillian Lark

3.0

I discovered this author one night while mindlessly scrolling #BookTok, so I scurried over to KU and found her book.

What I liked:
-The individual characters were really great. When the story focused on each MC, I found myself wanting to know more about them.
-The harpie family history, that was fascinating.

What I had a tough time with:
-There was a little too much going on at first and I was confused with the world building.
-It's a rh, pnr, with magic, sulkies, witches, fae, harpies, demons, and werewolves. I could have missed a few.
-I would have liked to have seen much more character development in this story, and a deeper connection between each of the characters rather than so much sex.

I needed more of a set up before
Spoiler Asa fingered her in front of Greg. They literally JUST met and her wing is broken and all of a sudden he's got his hand down her pants? I don't mind when things move quickly, but this was crazy fast.
I felt like Asa was making a point, rather than trying to please her. Sexual manipulation sucks.

It also rubbed me the wrong way that Asa is such an ass to Greg. I get the whole broken heart thing, but he seemed like he already had the answers to the triad and could have reached out to Greg at any point in the past few months and told him what he suspected. Was it pride, was he too alpha to admit that someone left him?

Maybe I'm used to more traditional pnr, but I enjoy my possessive, alpha, no-one-but-touches-my-mate kinda werewolf.
