Mankiller Poems: The Lost Poetry of the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation by Wilma Mankiller
4.0
I grew up on the traditional lands of the Cherokee in the Southern Appalachian Mountains and have always had a great deal of admiration for Wilma Mankiller who was elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation in 1985. It was a delight to read this collection of her poems which includes a foreword by US Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo, the first Native American to hold that honor.
