The first in the series, Corrupt, felt a bit off and ridiculous in the darkness the book had but Hideaway was truly disturbing at times in ways I didn’t expect. There was a lot of sad and uncomfortable moments. Sometimes it felt like the book focused more on Damon than Kai even though it was Kai’s book. I don’t think I walked away from this book with a super solid grasp on him as a character. He seems like a supporting character in the series versus a main lead which I hate because he was my favorite in Corrupt since he was the nicest. Banks however was a real star in this book. She was a very tough and complex heroine to me. Her life is screwed up but I enjoyed the mystery that surrounded her. It felt slow at times but it still kept me interested because I always wanted to learn more. Definitely not a book for everyone by any means.
