The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

4.0

Wowie! I enjoyed this read very much. I really enjoyed the whole concept and it definitely delivered. The characters were likeable too, they had some really good chemistry and you could see why they liked one another. The fact that it wasn't instantaneous was a big plus for me too.

My only issue with this book was the ending...Spoilers Ahead:

SpoilerOkay, so...They discover that their results were actually tampered with and it's this whole thing, that's fair. But Jess gets over it pretty fast, they already love each other so what should it matter? Well, instead of properly speaking about it with her, he basically disappears for 8 days, not a word. I don't think it was an overreaction for her to not take that well. Anyways, he finally turns up and is basically like "my bad whoops" and then we get a two-month time skip where he's forgiven and they're happy...that just doesn't work for me. That apology was nowhere near good enough as far as I'm concerned. I spent those last two chapters with a frown set on my face which is to be expected during the upsetting part, but that should have been fixed and given me an ending to smile at. But no, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed this read, but that issue definitely put a damper on things. Maybe if there had been a bit more time and story between that climax and the end-end, it wouldn't have been too bad, but it was at the very very end. Oh well, I'd still fully recommend this book. I love a single mother story with fun side characters.
