River of Shadows

Does this deserve 3 stars? I'm not sure. Bits or it were fantastic- the grief Hanna felt over the loss or her father, the descriptions of Finnish mythology. I nearly dnfed at around 60% because the relationship with Death was stressing me out and I needed a break.
But there were bits I really did not like - the dialogue throughout felt off to me, and Hannas inner monologue felt weird. That inner monologue was doing a lot of explaining of her personality that we also never saw play out in the story. I didn't really understand the progression of her relationship with Death - after the initial attraction I couldn't really understand what he was meant to find compelling about her. The story also felt a bit unbalanced, the ending rushed.
I'm not sure what to take from all this. I decided to read this because I wanted something light and breezy, was surprised at how not light and breezy it was and am now annoyed that it wasn't more serious. I'm fairly certain I'm going to read the sequal right away.
