Piece by Piece | Daemon Manx
Genre: Horror

Piece by Piece is a two story horror collection by author Daemon Manx. This book was recommended to me in one of my horror book groups. Described as a ‘horror with heart’ I eager dived into this one, but boy was I unprepared. How on earth Daemon Manx managed to pull of such an incredible feat of penmanship in so little pages blows me away. This book will rip your heart out – beware! I’ll confess I actually shed tears, yes in a horror book! The first story was quite literally the best horror story I have read all year (and probably for several years prior). I’m not going to give any plot summaries or elements, just read it blind. It’s quick to read, so you won’t feel bad dropping your current read for this one.

I intended to write my review immediately after but life happened and so now it’s a week later. I can say though that it is still sitting with me. I want to re-read it but I know I won’t get the same feeling as I know what’s coming now. This is one of those books you want to erase your memory so you can enjoy it again a second time.

I’ve since gone on and read a few of his other short stories and while I’ll admit I preferred this one, I am already sold on Daemon Manx as a future auto-buy author.

If you’re on the fence about this one, let this review be your nudge to try out a new author, like me you might just find something special.
