This is a review for the entire series.

I really wish I had read this sooner. Q Hayashida 23 volume series is an incredible work, one you can feel her passion for. I feel like with almost any other author, this series would be dull and depressing, yet by her, it has a deep sense of comedy and an almost lighthearted tone for much of its run. Even in some of its darkest moments, there's always something funny waiting in the next chapter. Dorohedoro has one of the strangest and darkest worlds ever written, full of murder and mountains of corpses, yet it's one of the most feel good series I've encountered. It also nice to see a horror series that doesn't use harm against women for shock value.

The characters are equally well written. In many manga, the female characters are often just there for fanservice and to fawn over the main character, but in this series, the women are active participants in the story. While there is some fanservice, it doesn't feel as exploitative or gross as many other series. Nikaido especially really shines as a character. They are also incredibly well drawn, with actually realistic proportions.

The art is the final aspect of the series I want to discus. All of the art is incredibly drawn, with an almost sketch quality to clothing and environment, yet a smoother, cleaner look for characters faces. Body horror is something she does exceptionally well, with many moments that will make you pause just to study the art. Ultimately, Dorohedoro is a page turner that refuses to be put down, with well done horror, characters, art and story.
