To Your Eternity, Volume 4 by Yoshitoki Oima
4.0
You really have to keep your guard up with this series. At this point, we know everyone we meet and love will die. Of course, because our protagonist is immortal, but this is also reflects what we know about life. If any character has a significant impact on it, we’ll continue to see them because it can take on their form. This is pretty sad too, honestly, but also beautiful, except that because of a mysterious villain in pursuit, we might have to lose these characters twice since it can steal the protagonist’s many forms as well as its memories of them.
Despite this existential bummer, it’s easily one of my favorite current manga series and somehow manages to be a light-hearted and breezy read. I’ve been finishing these volumes in one sitting because I can’t put it down. It’s well-written, the settings are diverse, there are many interesting characters. It keeps building onto this unique story arc in a way that I can’t help but want to keep reading.
