This is very much a YA fantasy and it reads like one. While the premise is intriguing and the split-perspective narration adds a unique touch, I felt the character development was a bit underwhelming. I never quite connected with the characters enough to truly root for them. Still, the storyline itself is interesting, and I can see its potential. I’m undecided on whether I’ll continue the series once the next installments are published.
