I bought this book after getting a recommendation from an employee at a bookshop. It sat on my shelf for over a year and then in December, I decided that an immersive read might help me read it. I put the audio on hold and it only was ready to borrow last week. Almost a year of waiting. 

I was hoping for once booktok was right. But no, once again betrayed by our very own book friends. This book was so boring. It was meant to make me cry and destroy my soul. 

I'm not a complete negative Nelly and I will say that I enjoyed the writing and descriptions but goodness the plot. The plot was not plotting. I couldn't even tell you what happened until the end when something happened, but we knew what was coming so it all just fell flat. I thought the romance would at least make the story more interesting but it didn't. I didn't care about the characters, they were both extremely unlikable, which is probably the point I guess. 

Anyway, I had a feeling I wouldn't like this and need to listen to my gut more. I don't get the hype but maybe I'm just dead inside.
