Switched
by Amanda Hocking
I actually really liked this book. I came into it, thinking it wouldn't be very good, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The book did seem rushed and a bit quick for my tastes, but maybe that's because I devoured it like a person deprived of food for days. Yeah, that's right, about four hours and I was done.
Well played Amanda Hocking, well played.
The Dysfunctional Family
Oh wow. If my mom tried to kill me at seven, I would hate her too. Convinced that Wendy is a monster (which she technically is but she doesn't know that. So shhh) she tries to kill her own daughter.
But surprise! It isn't even her daughter! I'll get to that later. Anyways, her mom is basically a psycho, with no redeeming qualities and I'm glad they locked her up.
Thank you, I know I'm harsh.
Matt was a sweetheart and a favorite character. He was so loyal to Wendy, and some of the things she did to him were heartbreaking. Team Matt anyone?
I was indifferent to her aunt. We weren't really introduced in the novel, but it I don't really feel like I need to be introduced. So nothing gained, nothing lost.
Can't even mention her real mother. Elora is a cold woman. Cold, indifferent and well crafted. Definitely will not be ordering my Team Elora T-shirt's anytime soon.
Tracking Love
That was a horrible title and we all know it.
Ahem, anyways, onto the topic at hand.
Finn.... Well. Okay. He was okay.
I wasn't like OH MY GAWD I LOVE HIM. But I wasn't like 'go die in hole Finn'. I like Tove better. But I don't think there is a chance for a Tove relationship with the way this book is going.
Finn was a bit rude, telling her he was playing with her emotions just so she would go with him, arguing with her, leaving her behind. Thought it wasn't insta-love, I think.
I wasn't paying much attention. Too busy turning the pages to eat more words. These words were delicious.
The Plot
The Plot was good. It moved quicker than most books I've read. Within like 30 pages we had already jumped into the main plot, and I kinda liked it. Amanda Hocking's writing is excellent in this book, and it's an enjoyable read.
Again, fast paced plot, pretty good characters, nice writing.
It's a catch, guys!
I give this a solid five.
And I'm already on book 2! YAY!
