Empty characters made the plot less impactful.

Long book but it read quickly because more time was spent describing unnecessary scenic filler than there was creating an impactful storyline. Lots of tragedy but didn’t feel impacted by any of it. The characters reactions and the themes of domestic violence and PTSD seemed unrealistic.

Overall: lots of pages with little substance
