This was so much fun! Toadling was such a great character, I'm surprised I felt so much for her in so little pages.
Kingfisher is a masterful writer and Thornhedge truly proves that. She does such an incredible job fitting so much depth into such a short amount of pages. This is one of the most unique sleeping beauty retellings I've ever read and by far my favourite.
Halim was such a sweet character too and I wasn't expending to have such fond feelings for him. His relationship with Toadling was so cute and sweet.
I just want to bundle up Toadling and keep her with me at all times. The use of her abilities was perfect and made for such an entertaining story. I also adored the changeling parts of this too.
