Yet another Harry Potter book where the namesake character continues to grow ever more unlikable and unpleasant. He is proud, self-aggrandizing, and self-obsessed. He continually ignores the good advice and kindness of his friends and disdains authority figures. He's truly obnoxious. The book moves rather slowly, and the reader is left to wait for something substantial to finally happen at the very end. The only saving graces are the appearance of a kind and quirky new character, Luna Lovegood, Hermione's unending patience and sensibleness, and the Weasley parents' love and kindness.
