Snowed in on Valentine's Day by Alana Highbury

fast-paced

1.5

Hazel is described as being akin to Brene Brown, but let's be real, Brene Brown would NEVER get sloppy drunk and spill a bunch of emotionally unintelligent drivel on a near stranger at her best friend's wedding. I don't know that I've read a more dislikeable FMC.  On top of that, she was half-Japanese which was mentioned multiple times per chapter in the beginning and her only nod to being Japanese was her "best asset," her long black hair. As someone who reads a lot of books by BIPOC authors, I just found this so uncomfortable, given that the author has a very Caucasian cartoon avatar as their headshot. The note from the author afterwards said she wrote this starting around Thanksgiving to be released by Valentine's Day ... and it READS like it was written in a rush.

If this wasn't an ARC, I likely would've DNFd.
