I really enjoyed Lean on Me. Both Tabitha and Marcus are well-rounded characters who grow as the novel progresses. I also loved Aunt Tweet. My heart broke for her as a victim of Alzheimer's / dementia disease. I can truly empathize with Tabitha and her sisters as they deal with the mental demise of their beloved aunt. To watch helplessly as the loved one whom you think of as a hero, a mentor, and even a parental figure become a shell of who she once was has to be emotionally devastating. Thank you, Mrs. Simmons, for bringing this disease to our attention. I loved the love displayed by Marcus for not only Tabitha but for Aunt Tweet as well. What a good man! Thank you for acknowledging how vital it is for a caretaker to have support. It seems that it is even more important that they are provided with the ability to have self-care. I am looking forward to Rachel's story.
