I think I’m at a place in my life where I no longer identify with YA high school aged protagonists and I clearly identify with their dads. The first part of the book was obviously necessary but it didn’t really grab my attention as well as part 2. I don’t care about racist high school politics. Once there was more of a focus on stopping Niveus I started to enjoy it more and actually the epilogue makes up for the small bits of boredom I felt in part 1. There were moments of dialogue that I loved, like Chi’s dad introducing himself as his daughter’s bank account. I laughed so hard.
