This book is basically a collection of 500 Western polymaths, i.e. scientists who worked in more than one field in chronological order. The last chapters offer a clustered perspective on which factors might contribute to people becoming polymaths. For me, an interesting slow read connecting some dots. 

I will probably revisit this book when I come across more names of scientists.
