Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
by Carol S. Dweck
If I could, I would give this book 3.5 stars (I rounded up). It starts off strong because you are able to connect with the ideas presented. Where the book falls short is in depth. Instead of going into detail on the research and how it can be practically applied, the book is filled with examples that Dr. Dweck provides after apparently having read popular autobiographies. The only real meat of a "how-to" is in the final two and a half pages. I would have much rather seen direct how-tos instead of specific "dilemmas" and cherry-picked story after cherry-picked story. Perhaps a second edition will be more in depth with specific behavioral experiments to try, self-statements to encourage cognitive restructuring, etc.
