Tempting the Prince by Christi Barth

3.0

I love a royal romance. Lemme say again for the people in the back, I LOVE A ROYAL ROMANCE. So it’s no wonder that I’ve read Christi Barth’s Sexy Misadventures of Royals series.

The series is set in the country of Moncriano introduced in the first book of the series, The Princess Problem where the long lost princess is discovered to be Kelsey Wishner, an average girl from Michigan. The vibe is very Princess Diaries ala normal girl becomes a princess.

This book, the third installment, focuses on Crown Prince Christian and surprise (just kidding we all saw it coming) Mallory Wishner, Kelsey’s “sister”. Christian and Mallory are separated by the classic cannot-marry-a-commoner dilemma with a dash of a have-to-marry-by-30 conundrum.

Similar to the other books in the series, Tempting the Prince is almost good. The plot and the characters have everything going for them but the reading experiences falls short on the execution. The dialogue is cringy at times as if the characters are trying too hard to sound like they’re in their 20s. Overall this book is a quick read filled with palaces and balls, hits the points you want in a royal romance, and nicely ends the series.
