The Mind Readers by Lori Brighton

I thought it was rather good, though not what I expected. I was expecting a happy Harry Potter style story where Cameron learns to use her powers and in the meantime helps fight off the bad guys. Right away I was shocked with a murder taking place right in the beginning. As she learns more about the people who took her in to train her powers and the SPI they say are after their kind, there become more and more questions. I found myself unable to put the book down for about the last quarter of the book, wondering along with her what was going on and if she'd be able to escape.

*spoilers*

I was sad that Aaron had succeeded in wiping her mind at the end, but at least she now has a good relationship with her grandma and life seems to be good. There even is the hint of her getting back with the people she met in the next book, as Maddox just showed up. Though of course this time she'd be with SPI who, based on what she learned about Aaron's group, appears to actually not be the evil one.
